Ustedes ya están muy fastidiosos con el tema del PPE, todo cometemos errores… supérenlo.

I know by the jacket he was wearing that the guy with the white beanie works for NYFD but why was he allowed to work on the vehicle without any PPE?

Guy in white could have thrown more snow on seeing as he never had PPE either. I agree with the point that the PD should be wearing reflective vests. If you bother to don a scba at least wear the mask.

Good 'ol FDNY, not really into the eye protection thing or SCBA. They are still the best but sure would like to see the full PPE going on here.
Regarding traffic control they probably could have done a little more but a full shutdown of the intersection (pretty sure this is 8th avenue and 56th st smack in midtown manhattan) would probably cause unnecessary chaos.
Funniest thing is no drivers or pedestrians really seemed to give a crap. Hardly a rubber necker in sight, everybody in their little hurry as usual. Just another day in midtown... yawn...

How would you control traffic better? You can't just shut down an intersection in Manhattan if it is at all possible to let traffic continue to squeak by.

They should be wearing their masks, but I will be the fist to admit we don't always mask up for little stuff like car and dumpster fires. I know, I know...spare me. Half the bush brigades around here don't even carry structural PPE or SCBA, but the still miraculously manage to put out car fires. I prefer to wear the mask because I can get closer to what I'm doing. You could argue that I put myself in a worse position than if I wasn't wearing SCBA.

If you ignore the poor use of PPE, this is a decent video of a department in action where everyone knows their job and gets to work without needing to be told what to do.

I am not here to judge or be critical by any means. After all of the education and information that all of us have received on the proven dangers of not wearing SCBA, there is no reason to beat this dead horse. It comes down to each man/woman choosing for him/herself. I am guilty of this at times myself, but I try to wear SCBA for 2 reasons(my wife and daughter).

Did anyone else see the guy in white throw a snowball at the fire???

That mask ain't gonna do you any good dangling from the pack. Why did the engineer park the engine in the smoke? Screw the traffic, park in the clear where you can breathe. There's more room to flake out the hose in the intersection.

Carlos,

I predict the "Full PPE" police will be all over this - and you - any time now.
