"Bobby" wasn't the Chief, the Chief was the one with no gear on carrying the radio. I'd have to guess, "Bobby" was his son... lol, easiest way to make officer, but needs to pack up to be that close. The nozzle of choice was fine, but just not used to it's potential, Steam Conversion is a good idea, if initiated properly. The next huge "No no" was to open the second door, with no hand-line in place, no second line at all, no R.I.T. set up. On the other hand, they would be wise to show this video when they critique the fire, used it as a training tool for fires in the future, learn from the past. Overall they got a good knock on it, stopped it from spreading to adjacent structures and hopefully, everyone went home safely, including "Bobby"...

Could not agree with Jeff more, Combination nozzles are door chocks at structure fires in my fire company. All our structural attack lines are smooth-bores.....Large water droplets and better penetration to the seat of the fire. Combination nozzles on fog add air and imediately turn to steam long before they get anywhere near the seat of the fire. True they can help clear smoke from a room(hydraulic ventilation) but in my opinion if you need to ventilate send someone to the rig and get a fan....if you dont have the personel on scene to do that call more mutual- aide.

Just because he has a white helmet may not mean he's a Chief Officer. Up until a short time ago, all of our officers had white helmets from Lieutenant to Chief. Chief or not, all firefighters involved in firefighting operations should have on full PPE including SCBA. All officers should lead by example, and that's the WRONG example. .

Sacramento fire buffs, arrive has two "r"'s, engine has an "e" on the end, and I believe you meant "and" as opposed to "ant". If you wish to refer to them as retards, you should probably check your spelling and grammar a little closer.

"Put it on fog"...? indirect sporadic pulsing to reduce ceiling-level temperatures to prevent flashover...when appropriate-yes. Otherwise, close that pattern and dial-in the straight-stream. The suggestion for fog only served to entrain more air into the upper level of the garage. I curse the day those pistol-grip nozzles were invented. Keep the bail at Arms length, pin it under your arm between your body, so you get the nob out in front of you, and you'll find you have a much better control, with less nozle-raction, plus you'll be able to move the nozzle around easier. A couple friendly tips.
