This video clip is narrated by Jeff Cool from Rescue 3 of the FDNY. It's a small segment taken from the IAFF Fire Ground Survival Program. The video recaps the events that took place at a tenement fire on January 23, 2005 in the Bronx, New York - Which killed 2 Firefighters and caused severe and critical injuries to 4 others.

Firefighter Survival is comprised of many elements including having the ability to rapidly and safely exit from an upper floor when conventional exits are blocked or non existent. Carrying a Personal Escape System and knowing how to rapidly deploy it in the worst of all conditions can not only save your own life, but also a fellow Firefighter or a Civilian.

What a great service Jeff Cool is providing to the fire service by giving his first hand account. I knew a little about this fire, but after watching the video and listening to him I came away with much more.

Thanks Jeff,
