It should be shown. Yes, there were a lot of mistakes made, as far as what can be seen on the video, and we can learn from them, which is one of the main reasons for site. The only good thing that could come from this fire is that, hopefully, it can be used to teach the importance of KNOWING and USING our PPE. Volunteer or career shouldn't matter. If it had been a career department they surely would've removed their apparatus and most likely put it out due to early detection of the fire since they would've been in the station. How long had it been burning before dispatch? Were there dispatch promblems? Many departments have their radio repeaters at their main station, which I would guess this was the case due to the size of the station. How long was response time from mutual aid departments? Throw in the increased stress level of your firehouse burning to the situation and there's a likelyhood for mistakes. That's why we must train like we play and know all aspects of our job.
Stay safe!
As I understand they were paid vol. department. The reason I posted this is for the lack of PPE and not knowing the equipment. I am in a non-paid vol. department and our training from probee to chief is in the use and knowledge of PPE and equipment.
Uhm..... I dont think this should be shown. Its kind of embarrassing what started out as a small fire turned into something like this. There is a lot of coulda, shoulda done something here. I guess these were volunteer firefighters?
