Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Because I wasn't getting much of anywhere with the college program I had been doing. one of my neighbors was going through Paramedic school and when I mentioned to him how much I was enjoying the first aid/CPR class I was taking, suggested that I might be interested in taking the EMT-B class. loved it ever since and recently finished Firefighter training.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I get to help people.

Snow

For the record I like snow. however I'm really not a great fan of 2 feet in 24 hours powder snow. Monday we had a high of about 10 degrees, it was a bright sunny, very cold day. yesterday and today the highs are in the 20s and it's been almost constantly snowing since sometime early yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon about 1500 I had a page for an MVA. I got to the station and we had been canceled. So I slid my way home and spent some time shoveling out my driveway. Optimism and bike riding.

( I took a nearly 7 mi bike ride today and the following is an expanded ed. of my part of an IM conversation I had with a friend about it.)

I miss the regular bike riding I use to do...lol. I lived in town for 4+ years going to school and at the least the sidewalks were ok to ride on yearround if not the street. I know....quite an original title. Well...this have been on my mind lately. It's been one of those trips where you're reminded very much in the face about how fragile and precious life and health is. to sum up.....in the last month my sister-in-law spent the better part of a week in the hospital for and after major abdominal surgery. Hi yea Patience, Things are going good up here in my neck of the woods. Just got back from the National Fire Academy! What an experience. If you ever get the chance to attend I HIGHLY recommend it. It is nice to be home though!
