Other Past or Current Departments and Organizations
I am a retired SAR k9 handler for the Canadian Search Dog Association was tasked by the RCMP.
My Training:
I have the old firefighter 1 and my 10-01s. Basic First Aid, CPR. Basic Search and Rescue, Urban Search and Rescue, K9 search and Rescue. Water Rescue. FTOP 300
About Me:
I loved my SAR dog, we retired together and she will be with me forever. Unfortunatly she passed away from a stroke on Sept. 2009.
I now have a new pup a black lab who was born the day I had to have my last dog put down. She is a rascal.
I produce a Volunteer Firefighter newsletter called "Fanning The Flames". I send it out monthly as an email attachment. If you are interested in subscribing just email me at jdiemert@rocketmail.com. I would be glad to add you to the list.
I am fourth generation volunteer firefighter and the third chief in our family. I wouldn't know what else to do with my free time.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I get to wear a cool hat!
Top Issues Facing Responders:
I think that one of the biggest issues facing responders is support in the form of CISM. It is not always available in a timely fashion or at all.
I worry about the old school attitude about vol. firefighting that exists in my department and other departments. They are dinosours left over from the run in and breath smoke and die young days, where it was really about how much beer you could drink after the fire.
