I've completed EMT-Basic school but still have to pass registry.
About Me:
I'm just a country girl. I have always liked to play with the boys in the dirt. I have my female friends too but my guys are always there for me. I'm recently married to a Captain at our department, he got me interested in becoming a volunteer. I guess you could say that it runs in the family b/c his father is the Chief of our department. I'm a laid back person still trying to figure out what God put me on this Earth to do. I'm not happy sitting at a desk I know that yet I want a family. I don't want to miss out on my son growing up to persue a career yet I don't want to miss out on a career either. I'm a little stuck right now but will figure it out. I always do. I'm a happy, optimistic person who listens to my heart and lives life to the fullest.
My husband is a Captain at the station and I had been attending events for 2 years prior to joining. When I decided it was time to join I was going to stay on the medical end of volunteering. But once I started to learn about the trucks, procedures, gear and personnel I changed my mind! I guess part of me didn't know if I could do full bunker gear, but now I know I can! The longer I'm on the depertment the more I want to do and know.
I want to help people in every way that I can. I want to learn everything that I can about anything. I love being a part of the community. I have attended Haz Mat (which were really cool) classes and am working on becoming an EMT-B. I'm really hungry to learn and help. I've noticed my relationship with my brothers at the station starting to grow stronger over the last year. Everytime we go out together we grow closer, which is normal I assume. Whatever it is it's awesome.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Being a respected part of the community.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Changes in radio communications & alchohol in volunteer fire stations.
So I've finally scheduled my exam. I have been fine when I think about taking it until this last weekend. I'm really nervous now! I usually test really well but I am having a hard time studying for this exam! I am just going to take the chapter pretests from my EMT book and hope that can help refresh my memory. I've been out of class since June and done with clinicals since September 30th. I think that more time spent in clinical enviroments would help refresh my memory and skills but I don't… Continue
