Hi, sorry to take so long to answer your question...you probaly have the answer by now since you asked this in JULY...long story haven't been on for awhile. TRUCK 13, was a Fairfax County owned unit, it was a 100' tiller Seagrave. It was there for probaly the late 60s to most of the 70s until FS29 opened and was tansferred there and was replaced with one of the 135 foot Emergency One units which is now out in Berryville VFD( Unless that's old truck 10, Berryville has not sure they were twins) Photo 10 might have pictures on his web page, or fairfax county fire officers web page or the union. I would think 13 would still have some up on the wall. You can always go to 29 and ask. IF 13 no longer has photos, it should and would be a woth while project for someone to resurect your departments history on it.
being short can be a blessing in a emergency. God made you short for a reason. The day will come when you are on a scene and you are the only one small enough to help the victim. I like people shorter than 5'7 so I finally feel tall even when I'm not.
Hey remember Cops are just firefighter that checked the wrong box. Remember too that swift water training is not just for firefighters I know police officers that have benifitted from this training too. I wish I could write you more about this training but my heart is not in it today. Yesterday I was on the local news for a Hazmat call we had in our area and I gave a interview, and today when I was going to see If my dad saw me on the tv before I could ask he passed away. I have to plan a funeral and I wish I didn't. I don't know why I am telling you this But I just want to keep you interested in the swift water training, after things calm down maybe I kan write you more on the training. Thank Steven.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. If you want we have swift water training up here every 2nd week in sept. It is a great class that I recommend to everyone. The group that does it is Water Rescue & Recovery Training 847-867-6749. Class is 3 days and in 2009 it will be Sept. 8, 9, & 10th.
