hey sorry it has taken so long to get back but my main thing is my gear is HUGE and i would really like some that fits good so that is the main thing for a female firefighter they shouldnt be able to fit a whole nother person in their gear :)

Hey Adel, when I get my gear (It's been a process with waiting for my physical results to get back and such) I'll let ya know. I will be getting gear thursday or getting fitted for gear because they don't think they have any that will fit me! lol. I'm so small. but my gf who works for Denair fire in Cali, she had to et womens structure boots cause the mens kept slipping off! we have narrower feet, so i know i'll be doing the same! and gloves ive found is an issue too so far, none of thiers fit me...going to have order me some gloves as well for sure!

Adel I was fortunate in that right after I got on the dept., we orderd new gear and were measured for good fit. As far as female station wear and polo's, etc., try www.galls.com or www.hero247.com. Both of these companies sell women's sizes, and hero247 is very reasonably priced. Hope this helps.

well i think that only thing i have a problem with is my gloves, the smalls were 2 small and the mediums r a lil big so it's sometimes hard for me 2 grip things and work with the tools rite. other then that my bunkers fit great

adel,
Thanks for concern about the female FF's. unfortunately, i myself have got to wear men's turnouts and gloves and boots. i am a first responder so i buy my own polo shirts from a local company that deals in ladies attire. If i am like most women in the FF profession, i like my shirts a little big to have room to move.. and let heat excape. i wear a small pair of gloves but Galls has a good selection of gloves and boots just for women if they are interested. If your dept can order a bunch at one time i think they may give a discount.. check out the online stores for your women's attire.. that's were i get most of mine..

I'm tall with big hands and wide feet, so I get along just fine in mens gear. I can't think of anything special I could use, sorry.

Sorry I'm not a firefighter, I am the wife of a firefighter. So I would have no idea about products for women firefighters. I am so sorry I couldnt help you with this....

With gear, I've found some great companies that are doing well with creating styles for women as well as men, but yes unfortunately in most cases we just have to work with things that are simply too large and not made for our much different physiques and anatomy. I know Elbeco has some Women's pants that are specifically made for women and are tailored appropriately, and thefirestore.com has some great gear for women, but unfortunately they don't make pants in the style my academy requires so I have to get mine tailor-fitted. Even my high-shine oxfords are a men's shoe (women's gear is so hard to find, and when you find it it is FAR too costly!!!) My station boots are Rocky's, they have women's sizes and are well worth every penny, and otherwise I do what I can to find things that are geared towards women. In all this, I'm really considering starting my own company to get women's Fire and EMS gear out there and easy-to-find!!!
