Plagiarism Some Thoughts...
Ok thought about this for awhile before posting this and also asked some opinions so I could say the right thing, or at least do this intelligently.
Ok so here goes….BTW THIS IS AN ORIGNAL POST, THE AUTHOR IS ME.
Ok I get what all the anti-plagiarism commenters are saying and I do understand it fully, believe me. If I had works out there that people were posting everywhere then I would want them to mention I had something to do with that too. I get it people. But when you get things passed onto you from an email from a co-worker, I didn’t think a second before adding it to the site for others to read. People are posting things all the time on here for people to peruse and maybe pass on themselves. It has been done for a long time now, and I didn’t really think people would get their feelings hurt.
I also didn’t think that people would start beating me with an ugly stick because I didn’t know the original author. I have posted things in the past that no one started slamming me because I didn’t know who wrote it first. And in NO WAY DID I EVER SAY THAT I WAS THE ORIGINAL WRITER. NEVER. EVER.
I am a school teacher and I abhor plagiarism myself, but I didn’t deserve what I got. If I had been told in a private message that “if I could add the original author or at least try to find it”, heck I would HAVE BEEN falling all over myself trying to find him or her. But dropping a rabid “YOU DIDN’T WRITE THIS AND YOU BETTER NOT BE TAKING CREDIT FOR IT” isn’t the way to get your message across. Doing that right off the bat puts someone on the defensive, with a bewildered look on their face.
Now don’t get me wrong, I UNDERSTAND what you’re trying to say, I truly do. But coming at someone with guns blazing isn’t the way to do it. I realize there are people on here that must have every detail in place, be perfect or else the web police will descend upon you, to me that is plain frightening. I don’t intimidate easily so I didn’t sit in a room crying rocking back and forth after that person blasted me. It did, however, tick me off because he could have gone about in an entirely different way. I am human, I am reasonably intelligent and can understand things that are told me or explained to me. But telling me IN YOUR EYES THAT MEANT doesn’t hold much credence with me either because what you think and what I think and the average person thinks isn’t the same thing. Dong-ma?
I also get that other people on this site have taken credit for things and been a butthead about it. That, however is not me and you should have at least given me the benefit of the doubt in this matter. But instead, I got nasty rude messages left, to which I promptly stopped because public berating is not something that should be done, no matter where it is or what it’s about. As I said before, a simple message, or even reply post could have done the trick. If this person wants to make sure everyone is correctly designating the original authors, then for God’s sake, put a Disclaimer at the beginning so they won’t commit the cardinal sin of pissing you off. What YOU think and what EVERYONE ELSE thinks are different things. So when you said “IN MY EYES YOU MEANT” doesn’t mean you are the authority on anything.
Thank you for expressing your opinion, but don’t be an asshole. Really.
I am sure that you will reply to this with rudeness, vulgarity and the same tackiness that you have shown in most of your posts. I took the time to read them, some of them you are actually intelligent and are making strong valid points. But some of them you are suffering from, IN MY EYES, as headupthebuttitis.
You say in order to get respect first you must earn it? Well, I think that applies here. I am sure that this will generate a lot of good, intelligent replies and arguments, but I am sure there will also be a lot of those that are rude and insulting. So have at it, give me your opinion on this, and please try to keep it intelligent and non-insulting.
Just one question, if we don’t know the original author do we have to put our own disclaimer, or if we find multiple names do we have to put them all? Just a question and not being a smartass. And yes I now see the Disclaimer at the bottom.

Mighty hefty words there "Kali" I was told you and him were pretty funny about plagiarism. I can see you are intelligent and very well spoken and I expected just such a response from you. I knew you would probably come on here and blast away, but it doesn't really hurt my feelings at all. I know you and him are friends so I'm not gonna go and blast YOU away from this discussion. And just because I choose to moderate comments doesnt' mean I am into censorship, but of course, that is YOUR opinion. I took the time to read some of YOUR posts and comments and you seem just as high strung as him, but that's just MY opinion. Listen here, "kali", I"m not gonna sit here and get into a war of words with you because it is pointless and ridiculous. You're going to have to go find someone else to argue with because you're not going to bait me with the smartass response you gave me. And if you continue to insult me on here you will be deleted, end of story. Coming on here and leaving messages like you and him did are fruitless and pointless. If you don't like what I post then do what I told your buddy to do, if you don't like it then don't read it, understand? I am not here for YOUR or HIS approval, I am here to share and talk to my friends. If you feel that I have adversely affected you then simply do not come to my blog. I will not be bullied by you him or anyone, got it?
Maybe YOU should do a topic on people you feel are beneath you, as you have done with me. You both seem to be really great at that.

Yea it did help Rusty, to get it off my chest. I have never been attacked like that on here, on anything. So when that started I was kind of bewildered, as I put. As for the other comments left, they were useful, insightful and very helpful, actually someone left me a comment on my profile that was very informative. I just don't think attacks like that should be public. I believe that if you have an issue with someone you should take it to THEM first privately. But thats just my opnion. Thanks for the comment Rusty.

It sounds to me that it was not intentional on your part at all !It's hard to keep up with original authors at times, unless the original author has a unique style such as Art "ChiefReason" Goodrich, if that makes any sense? Anyway; It's my hope that you would feel better by getting this off your chest.

Thank you Art. I do feel the same. I don't want to have an unpleasant experience here. I have met many people on here and off, and made some damn good friends. This is the first time I have ever had a bad anything on here.

Obviously, you GET IT!
As someone who posts original pieces here, I would like to be asked for permission to re-post something that I have written and to be given credit for it.
In today's society and with so much being said via the Internet, it IS important to state whether it is an original piece or is something that is posted with the proper credit given.
With forwarded emails, it's easy to lose track of who wrote it originally, but if you don't know the original author, merely stating that would suffice.
I don't think anyone here would want anyone's involvement with this website to be an unpleasant experience.
After all; it's about sharing and caring, isn't it?
