Sounds like you were on the fire ground without a helmet. Now that's a hard lesson learned. TCSS

Hopefully, there won't be a next time, but I'm always on my guys about wearing their lid anytime they are handling hose on the truck.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but depending on the severity, full recovery can sometimes take a couple of months or more. You cannot rush it.

Gerry, as time goes on the dizziness and lethargy should go away after a while, might take some time depending on the severity. I have "had my bell rung" on a couple of occasions on the job and not. Do what you can to relax, and as I said the spells should subside with time, hopefully soon for you

Hey there,my squad was responding to a working house fire on may 11,3am. Upon arriving on scene ,i was tanker operator and knew the pump truck was almost empty on the 8oo gallons it has for it,s primary attack. I pulled along side a hydrant, then proceeded to pull 4inch hoseline from the bed when i reallized the hose was caught on something, so i pulled harder and yanked as hard as i could, eventually the hose come loose, but just as i gave my hardest tug , and flew off the back end of the bedliner directly on my head.I laid there in a pool of blood unable to really focus or move untill my capt. saw me . They quickly immobilized me ,and off in the ambulance i went.Well ,6 stitches on the head later, along with 7 hours in emergency and multiple x-rays,i,m slowly recovering. It was later revealed that a coupling or two had snagged on an improperly inslalled carriage bolt used to secure the tarp to cover the hosebed. It has now been more than three weeks, headaches have subsided, but still suffer from extreme dizzy spells, and lethargy.Hopefully ,i won,t have to go through this again.

Gerry,

I suffered one but it was non-job related. MC accident. Helmet definately worked. Rung my bell and the after effects sucked. Cope... I laid in bed alot. That type of injury takes time and repeats they say take even longer.

Can I ask how you got an on the job related concussion?
