We had only one call last night an MVC right in front of the station, I also got 2 more assessments out of it and got to push my first drug dose Morphine SQ, Only because we could not get a line started and she was in some pain. Only 5 more assessments to go YAY.
Our local services don't use butterflys but why not IM? Im not sure IO is a good method unless the patient is spiraling downward quickly and about to crash - but minor injuries from an MVC? IM morphine! Or fentanyl, our services don't carry fentanyl here, but in the ER it works like a short-term Charm - perfect for EMS!
The lady was in some pain but quite honestly I am not sure that we would use an IO for a conscious patient, but never know. as for calling it a push that is more of just a general term we use, not the actual doing it.

They got you there John...and by the way...a SQ injection is not a "push"....BUT....keep at it....You will get it.....I know If I did it then anyone can.....LOL Paul
why subcutaneous? and you could not get a line started? not even a butterfly? Where I work, medics can perform IO drug administration... this is not in your protocols?
IO-Inter Osseous or into the bone... this works in a pinch where you need to get drugs on board unless you are dealing with a child or elderly person...
