What a Night my last medic shift was right in the middle of a level I snow emergency in Montgomery County Ohio. The roads were real nsty and I am sure there were alot of places in just as bad a storm. the funny and not so funny thing was that my medic was already out when I came on duty, as well as one of my partners (a sqaud leader) our other partner was out on our medic already as she works a 24 hr shift. Well all you know what was breaking loose and they had all equipment out somewhere in the Twp. they were calling for mutual aid medics and such. I guess they forgot we had a back-up reserve medic at my regular station that I run fire from. So my partner calls dispatch to notify them we were taking the staff car to 45 and going to staff M45 in case they needed it, then when we were about a 1/4 mile from the station we got dispatched to a call. While heading to the call (I was driving) I went nice and easy around the corner and around came the medic, or at least thats what my partner thought, instead I sawed that steering wheel back and forth and kept that medic from doing nothing more than some heavy fishtailing on the road. Guess all of my wild driving days as a teen paid off. Then as the night went on we had one busy night with only about an hour of sleep, the kinda night that makes you feel good cause ya got to help alot of people out. Made for one memorable night on the medic, GOD I Love This Job.
