Hey Wes I found a book called Fire Engines In North America. It starts out with the history of the fire service from the leather buckets to the modern engines. Its from the Wellfleet Press 110 Enterprise Avenue Secaucus Nj. 07094. But I found it at a Barnes & Nobles.

Does NC have a firefighter museum...try there...if not the FASNY Museum of Firefighting is in Hudson NY the phone # is 518-822-1875

Try your local library. I've signed out some very good books on the history of firefighting.

Hey Wes, One of our officers is getting our web page put together now. He has loaded alot of photos about the history of the department. We have one of the oldest in the state. Search- www.vil.prentice.wi.gov this will take you to the village page. Then follow these steps- village information; volunteer fire dept;history. Hope the photos can help out in some way . Good luck.
