The dream is realized.....finally!!!!
Saturday, June 14, 2008 will be my first shift as a full-time, career firefighter with the City of Alcoa Fire Department. I can hardly put into words the feeling that I am experiencing. For one thing, I realized how fortunate I really am. How many people get a job at their "dream department" in less than a year. I know guys who have worked for seven years or more as reserve firefighters with aspirations of going full-time. The last two weeks have been torture. I got the job offer on May 30, pending a physical exam, background check, and psych exam. I knew that would all check out, but I was ready to go the next day. Today, I am the happiest, proudest, and most excited firefighter/EMT in the world!!

By the way don't forget the ice cream your first shift. It works great when you come to work with that delicious treat in your arms for your new family
