This week has been the busiest of weeks, plenty of calls, today alone 2 calls a real heart stopper this am at the local nursing home, turned out they either didn't notify the alarm company or the alarm company forgot they were having a fire drill, comes in as unknown type fire, pretty exciting for a few seconds anyway. Structure fire in the afternoon in the south end of the district we were second out for that call, there are some issues with that station that we need to address at the next commissioners meeting, we shall see how that goes. just a chicken coop but lots of fire for an outbuilding. Weather is heating up 82 degrees today, supposed to get hotter this weekend. Working with the county planner and a group of fire chiefs, DNR, USFS attempting to make changes in how this county addresses the fire code or the lack of code compliance in the county, and adding some of the 2006 Urban interface code to protect structures in the wildland urban interface. We had just completed are Community Wildfire Prevention Plan just last fall and are trying to use it to leverage some code changes for access, defensible space, and construction materials this is going to be an uphill battle to get the County Commissioners to adopt some of this stuff. We are just on the starting edge of a huge amount of growth and having the highest occurance of wildand fire of any county in the state of Washington I can see lots of bad things about to occur. Hope everyone had a safe week, and has an enjoyable and safe weekend.
