What ever happened to "We take care of our own." It seems more and more we learn , its just not always true. Shure if your "well connected , or have Department Heritage , or maybe Political wires" you can rest easy.

But what about those who just plain persued a carreer or a life long dream to be a Firefighter? What about the ones who aren't hired and educated through "Nepotism or Patronage?" What about us who are not "Entitled through family ties or heritage?"

Why do we get held to different rules and standards. Its not right - when do the rules level the playing field? When do we all share the same pride and loyalty.

Shure youll always hear about all the "benefits , fundraisers and good deads" done for their friends" - but what about the rest of us ? Unions and Fire Departments all across this country are being ripped apart because the self serving and Politically inclined seem to dominate department agenda's.

When will the majority of honest workers stand up to the "Controling Minority?"

I know how you feel,I was a volunteer firefighter for 20yrs and an emt-d for 7yrs, got hurt on a rescue call and now disabled for life. I don't know if yours was paid, but i wish the volunteers had benefits as the paid fireifhgters. I had to fight every tooth and nail to get money from the comp board, and i lost my regular job as an area merchandiser becuase i injured my lower back and my neck. Can't even take a desk job due to the pain of sitting,walking,etc. My husband has also been injured at his last job and has a disease that prevents him from wearing an airpack, and any interior work. He just recently went back to work because we couldn't afford to live without the moeny,food,etc. Have you tried the disabled firefighterrs fund.
