This has been a tragic time in Rowan and Cabarrus Counties. Although I was at the station my youngest was on the scene. You know where he was when you left but you have no idea where he went to from staging. I have talked to the Chief Parnell from Salisbury and Chief Fox from Millers Ferry who is also a Captain at Salisbury City Fire. There is no way that I can imagine what they are going through. I paid my condolences to both departments and our department is providing coverage for Millers Ferry. Charlotte, Concord, Kannapolis, Thomasville, Mooresville, High Point and many other dpeartments around the state have offered their assistance to Salisbury Fire. Please remember these great firefighters and their families in your thoughts and prayers. I know they call me old, but no matter how old you are you never are ready to hear this type of news. Whether, young or old paid or volunteer, to all who read this please remember to be careful and stay safe. If any one of our firefighters falls it is too many. This is a tough time for all of us here in Rowan County as it is a tight nit group. Our department is between both of these departments and we have worked with these guys. In February a firefighter passed away LODD eenroute to a call the accident happened in Rowan County, but his department was a neighboring department to out old volunteer department. May our brothers rest in eternal peace. And may God be with them their families, their department members and all of you as you serve.
