Ok so I was listening to my local Christian radio station a few days ago and out of nowhere they start playing "Jingle Bell Rock." I was a little confused to say the least but I played along, listened for a while, and pretty soon the dj gets on. She says she has a little list to brighten our days, make us laugh a little. Her little list was entitled, "Why Hurricanes are Like Christmas." Now I can't tell you all of the like 10 reasons, but I know a couple of them were.."A hurricane is like Christmas because you have relatives come stay with you", and "A hurricane is like Christmas because you know at some point you're doing to have a tree in your house." I'm not sure if it's just me, but I was appalled at how she was making a joke out of people losing their homes, their belongings, sometimes even loved ones. Seeing as I live in KS, I've never experienced a hurricane, so I was kind of wondering if I could get the input of people who have experienced hurricanes. Is this sort of stuff funny, stuff that helps you laugh in a time of tragedy, or does this upset you?

In your part, atleast you have done your part as Christian. As Christian too, I would do the same thing. And if your blown off, just like Patrick said, move on. Let God deal with those ignorant DJs.

Sorry you feel that way but I think its degrading. I don't think its funny at all to laugh at someones tragedy.

What kind of Christians would make light of a tragic event like a hurricane? Every hurricane kills at least one person, and destroys hundreds of homes and businesses! I'd love it if their sponsers withdrew their advertising on this so-called Christian radio station.

I did call the next day. I made a formal complaint, but I was basically just blown off. I defnitely prayed extra for the people at that radio station that day in church, hoping they would be forgiven for being so tactless and ignorant.

Appalled is exactly what you should have been. You should have called that station as well and asked what kind of Christians they are..I know I would have!
