When's the last time that you threw a ladder?

Do you know the difference between a dog and a pawl? Do you give a rip that there are "dissipative ladders" and the fire service doesn't use them? Extension, roof, hook, fixed, Bangor. It sounds like a Billy Joel song. But can we rely on the Aerial to save us everytime?

Today the "truck" was 15 minutes away and we put up four ladders to support our attack in a 3rd story attic. If you went up a fold down attic ladder in a house wouldn't you want another way out? No answers, just thinking firemen. Supporting their brothers doing the glory work inside.

Is it automatic, luck, or training that brings us all home.

Stay safe, keep learning, AND working hard doing the basics.

Remember Tormentor Poles? Those were fun. There is a time and a place for aerial ladders but our bread and butter are the ground ladders.
