while walking down a stony path one day I spotted a tiny pebble in the midst of the stones and knelt to pick it up. I quickly glanced at it and put it in my pocket moving on down the path.
A few weeks later I was sitting on a bench in the yard just relaxing and I reached into my coat pocket and found the small stone I had picked up that day. Turning it over and really looking at it I saw that It was so beautiful to my eyes. Smooth and translucent with colors of Opal and fire running through it.
I sat there and enjoyed the beauty of that tiny stone. Funny, if I had not stopped to pick it up what a pleasure I would have missed. Oh, maybe it was just a small stone with no special value but at the moment I finally looked at it I was blessed. Friends are that way! When we stop to take the time to invest we reap the rewards latter.
I bring out that tiny stone every once in a while. I am still mesmerized by the beauty of that tiny stone.
It reminds me of the things in life that are most important. Friends! And You!

Beautifully said. Kudos for your observations and sharing. No matter how many times, or in many ways said, the message is there. Stop and smell those roses.

i can relate..i am a people person and instinctively psych people i just met assessing whether they'd be friends , and i 'invest time' in order to know them personally so they may also have a chance to get to know me - i got few true friends but i don't have foe's either. it's just a mater of groupings within a group, like being in the same level of thinking, know what i mean..

Sometimes in our busy lives we forget to "stop and smell" the roses as it were.
