Big mistake: Bank robbery turns out to be false alarm

Officers had their guns drawn at the Wachovia Bank at 1119 Broad Street during what was thought to be a robbery attempt. In actuality, a courier, Charles Montgomery, was trying to make a deposit for his company.

South Carolina Firefighter Injured in Engine Crash

JACKSONBORO, S.C. -- Colleton County Fire Rescue Engine 601 was involved in an MVA, injuring a firefighter.



The 25-year-old firefighter is now in stable condition and is being treated at the Medical University of South Carolina.



He has broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and a broken leg. The engine, however, is totaled and beyond repair.

Couple Hit on US 378 East

A woman from Canada was killed and her husband seriously injured Friday when the pair were struck by a truck while walking along U.S. 378 after leaving a restaurant about 17 miles east of Sumter just before 8 p.m.
