About Me:

i joined when i was 14 and have been doing it ever since.
when i was 17 i was the Vermont State Champion for SkillsUSA firefighting. I went on to compete in the national championships and was ranked 7th overall in the nation. I've been working my ass off to train for this years competition at the post secondary level.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

my fathers been a firefighter since he was a teen. i thought it'd be interesting, but a phase I'd grow out of. i was wrong... i joined as a junior member as soon as i hit the minimum age requirement and couldn't imagine any other way of life.

Why I Love Fire/EMS

the rush i feel when the call goes out, and the satisfaction of knowing i've helped someone.

Top Issues Facing Responders:

discrimination. i don't think its right that minorities are being chosen over more able-bodied citizens. I want only the best to be working on a department... whether or not that means men, women, blacks, whites, hispanics, etc. I am a female and know I could perform better than a lot of males. but i do not want to be hired for the sole reason that i am a female. I think the best should be hired. the end.
