Hey!

My name is Adel and I am trying to figure out what products are best for female firefighters. I have worked as a firefighter for only three years so I am just getting started. Currently I am a student at Eastern algerinne University in in the Fire & Safety Engineering Technology Program. Although I have only been a firefighter for three years I have had my fair share of small gloves that were still too big and pants that went up to my belly button! I was wondering if you could take the time out of your busy schedule to share some of your favorite/best fitting/most functional products for female firefighters. Weather it’s an awesome fitting pair of pants, A polo shirt that has sleeves that do not go down to your elbows, a pair of great gloves, or boots that have an awesome fit. It would be greatly appreciated if you could share your opinions with me. Thank you very much. Please feel free to e-mail me back at adel_pomper@hotmail.com or leave me a comment

Hi Carolyn,

The patches that I collect are fire dept, hazmat and bomb squad patches... I have an extra SBCO Sheriff Dept Bomb Squad patch. The only reason that I do is because I did the graphic art and design for the patch. I've worked with the bombers in the past at both ordinance disposal standby's with my engine or WMD training with my job as a Hazmat WMD Fire Captain, which led to frienships and my doing the artwork as a favor... Plus it's cool to see your art on a shoulder patch... : )

I worked for the University of California Police Department for 4.5 years in the 70's as a Paramedic Supervisor with their land / sea rescue program. I seriously considered a profession in law enforcement but I was torn three ways as far as a career... Doctor, Police Officer, Firefighter... I left UCSB and took on a job with the county of Fresno in CA teaching and proctoring field paramedics. I didn't last more than 8 months working inside a hospital. I quit and went to work for a local ambulance company where I ran a call involving a pileup in the fog and several critical patients. I had one of the more critical patients who regained consciousness in the back of the ambulance as we were driving to the hospital Code 3. He ended up spitting in my mouth and my reaction was less than professional... enough to let me know that I don't have the cop gene which enables one to remain composed under these types of situations. And to think that I would even think of carrying a gun... no way. I settled on the Squad 51 dream instead and never looked back.

This is probably more info than you need, but considering that I am on a hold pattern for shoulder surgery next month and am off duty, I have the time...

So, if your interested in trading patches, let me know.

Stay safe,

Mike
