Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I joined Westside Fire & Rescue my senior year of high school, 1995. In 1999, I left Westside to join neighboring department, Farmer Fire. On May 1, 2008, I transferred back to Westside Fire & Rescue.
WHEN: August 8th - 9th / Friday Evening - Saturday
WHERE: Kiwani's Ball Park Field #2 (Meadowbrook Road) / Asheboro, NC
WHO: Anyone Form Of Emergency Services Teams Will Be Accepted (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, Communications, etc.)
I have been asked to help with the 2008 Emergency Services Softball Tournament to be held on August 8th & 9th in Asheboro. This tournament will help to benefit Operation Red Sleigh through the NC SHP. If you are not familiar, Operation Red Sleigh is a non-profit organization now in its seventh year. Local law enforcement including NC Highway Patrol started the organization to assist families in Randolph County who were in need. The Organization is provided with names of children in the Randolph County area that need assistance at Christmas time. There are many families throughout the area that have benefited from this program.
The teams that will be accepted into this tournament will be those from Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, Communications, etc. The entry fee is $150.00 per team. This will be a Friday evening through Saturday event. Stipulations are single wall bats only! No double wall or composite bats will be allowed. Female players are allowed but not required. Balls must meet 44 core / .375 regulations. We really need everyone throughout the area to support this effort by putting a team together. If your department or station does not have enough interested, please contact your surrounding sister stations and put together a "multi-station" team. Just as long as you have your 10 players, they don't all have to be from the same department. Again teams can be mixed but the team name that is registered must be in compliance with some type of Emergency Service. We already have teams that have agreed to take part including Randolph County Sheriffs Office, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, & Asheboro Police Department. Now we need the fire and EMS departments to step up and get those teams together.
If you need any further information, you can contact Michael Ritch at mritch@jtoddbrown.com or (336) 708-0764. Registration will end on July 31st, but please don't wait until the last minute, let me know if you are planning on getting a team together so we can reserve your spot now!
hello Micheal, I think i worked on one of your fire trucks awhile back. Do you have a newer Pierce that had been wrecked...minor damage? Well just wanted to say stay safe and keep up the good work.
