Hello, Lt. Crotty. Glad to hear you are all doing well and having fun fighting fires. I would love to ride with you guys again, just not sure when it'll happen. Week one of fire school, done!! I survived the march of death, didn't do as well as I wanted to, but that's okay. I'll work until I do better. Hey... I'm in class with Matt Coriell's brother, Zach! Anything I need to harass him about? (grin) We also have another guy in my class that MIfflin is sponsoring, a Mike Calondis. I'm loving class, and I'm looking forward to going back to school on Sunday. Only 6 more weeks of school left!! Talk to you later! Brittany

Good morning, Lt. Crotty! Just wanted to say hello, and see how all of the guys at 134 are doing... I start Fire School at Reynoldsburg on Sept. 14. I'm excited about that. I had wanted to come down and ride before class started, but I think I ran out of time to do that. Anyway... talk to you later, be safe.

Lt. Crotty, despite my mess-ups, I really enjoyed riding with you guys the other day. It's not everyday you get to see an ankle bone protruding from the end of a leg! I have to cancel for July 2-- I'm working a 24 hour shift the day before, and I have a 7am shift start the day after. Maybe the 26th would work better? It is a Sat., 1 unit day. I'll try to get ahold of you tomorrow (Sunday) if you don't get this before then.
We had fun Thurs. evening-- we've got weekly training/maintenance nights-- and we did SAR training with our brand new airpacks. I like them. I'm still all thumbs with them, but I like them. They are the new SCOTT packs with heads up display and so forth. Anyway... we're getting all geared up for training, and we get a fire alarm call from a local church, with sprinkler activation. It turned out that it was just the fact that the electricity had been out all day and finally came back on.
It was a good training night. Need to do stuff like that a lot more often, I think. I guess that is the downfall to a volunteer fire dept-- it's hard to get enough people in one place to train. Well... talk to you later, hopefully tomorrow. Stay safe!

Be Warned: Sunday June 15, 2008 I was working overtime and we had a 3-alarm fire. Just as We got to the seat of the fire we lost water, later found out that when our operator charged the hydrant our 5" supply line became twisted and occluded water flow, a second line was put into place off E16. I will post pictures asap, however the basic problem is we use double jacketed LDH, as we use it over time the two jackets twist, then suddenly the inner jacket almost prolapses causing no water to flow through. CFD uses plastic LDH single jacket which is what we are in the proccess of switching to. If you have double jacketed LDH please inspect it immediately, we had a very close call that was avoided due to experienced pump operators and many fire companies in close proximity. This has been an ongoing issue at our department however this is the first incident it caused serious problems. If you have any other questions or need any info. please let me know. Stay safe!!
