Hello, ladies. I just found this site the other day, and am still new and looking around. I am a Paramedic (as of May 21, 2008) and 36 hr. FF for 3 years. I'm planning to go to 240 fire school at the Ohio State Fire Acadamy this fall. Looking forward to meeting more of you and hearing your stories.

Wanted to stop by and say thanks for adding me. I am Fire Fighter, EMT, full time mom(of 5 kids) and wife (for 20 yrs. June 18th.). It has been a road worth traveling. I am in School for my Paramedic and one day hope to be a Helicopter Pilot for a Air Ambulance service here in Northern California while still working as a Fire Fighter. I started out working with an ALL male shift-and it was at times a battle-but when push came to shove-they were there for me and we became a family..
I LOVE running, weight training, and the looks I get when we pull up to a scene and I step on the rig...
Once again Thanks for the add, and stay save.

When I started there were 2 other woman in the dept. one of which was the first for the dept.!!!! Unfortunately she left and the second one was only there for political reasons and left shortly after that. I've had 5 others come and go. Thankfully they left because they were in for the wrong reasons. I have spent 5 years in the dept. and love it. It took most of the guys a couple of months to realise I have the heart and right motivation to do the job. It took the wives about a year!! I have proved to all of them what I am capable of. Now we have 2 more females both under 18. Neither of which is there for the right reasons. Same story different girls. I've worked very hard to get where I am, and I refuse to let anyone take it away. I'm not looking for a sisterhood when I have a great brotherhood with my guys.
I've been a volunteer FF/EMT for 5 years and a LT. for 2 and counting. I have a few firsts with the company and proud of it.

I statrted in the fire service as a jr when i was 16 and then i moved to a different area and met my husband, have been married 20yrs, 4 kids and now after 20yrs in fir service and an emt-d for 7yrs i got injured while on a rescue call and now i am inactive and wish to persue something in the fire or ems service, but am sure on how to go about doing it with neck and back injuries. I showd all the men i encountered that women can do what ever they can and fit into spaces they can't.
