I thought that I would start this group for those among us that, in addition to our day to day fire fighting interest, have an interest in the apparatus of days gone by. I currently have a 1954 American LaFrance 700 Series pumper and a 1963 Ford/Hahn pumper.
That's a great looking 700 Series, Mike. My husband and I own a 1949 American LaFrance 700 Series Quint (my "baby" since before we met and were married) along with a 1951 American LaFrance 700 Series Engine. We also own a 1975 Crown Firecoach, but I've always been more of a fan of the 700 Series myself. :)
I havent gotten my own vintage apparatus yet (I have a couple located just convincing the owners to part with it) I added several pictures of my departments old trucks. Let me know what you think. I have several more. I am in the process of converting our archives to digital
I love the older apparatus. When I joioned my department around 1985 we still used a Ward LaFrance 1956 Pumper and a 1953 Ward LaFrance Quad. I will dig and post some pic's of them later but here is a pic of our 1928 Sanford Pumper.
my dept has a '54 or '55 mack. my fathers dept has a '38 arhens fox. the mack runs beautifully. the fox well does not run too well. one of the spare pieces in the career dept in my town is a hahn but i don't know what year.
Some nice lookin trucks u got there Mike. We have a 1923 Model T that is currently undergoing restoration. It still runs and drives considerably well. It gets driven once a year for the fourth of july parade and unfortunatly, until recently, was kept in storage the rest of the year. After winning a few car shows in its current state, we decided to restore it to its full beauty. Hopefully after we get it back we can show it off a whole lot more
I wish I was in your class of apparatus owners, but for now I own our retired 1981 American LaFrance Century Pumper and having a great time showing it off and racking up the trophies. Keep up the good work guys.
