You all know that in a small Fire Department that financially you have to go with outside resources. One of which would be community involvement by means of fundraising. But sadly we all do not posses the same creativity as others. So what are some fundraising ideas that your Department came up with and how did it benefit you. Share with the rest of us and may be it can help in other Departments.
Hey here some that we have done and others that other departments in our area have done, we have had chicken dinners, fish frys, raffle for half side of beef, stand on the street corner collect monies, raffle big screen TV, and Golf Tournament, sold cooked briskets, sold cookbooks, we'll try anything, hope this helps you.
one good idea for fundraiser is dinners, or breakfasts. we have done raffles, carwashes, breakfasts, dinners, little duck races, any thing that we can think of. ---our pancake breakfasts work out the best though. we also have two big rooms in the station that we rent out. we get alot of oarties and receptions and weddings and such so that helps a bit too.
the dept im with now dosent do much fundraising, however my old in Va used to do:
chicken BBQ (was always a hit)
we used to clean chimneys for a small donation (was also good ladder training)
fill swimming pools (good water ops training)
community yard sale (plus its good PR, and can bring in some new vols)
Our dept pretty much does raffles. Guns,Gift Cards,Meat,Cash... We have had mud bogs and car washes which worked ok. We also have a pavillion and bar on the farm that we rent. This is were most of our funds come from.
