Hello to all, like afew others have already said in earlier comments, this group has the right idea gettin new blood in the fire / rescue service. I also am not per se a recruiter but I'm always looking for new ideas to attract new members, and try and keep who we have around. It seems like we train these young lads and well I might add then there gone.... Have fun and keep looking.

I'm not a recruiter per se, but I do have a vested interest in successful recruitment and retention as a representative of the The Firemen's Association of the State of New York (FASNY), which is a membership-based organization representing the volunteer fire service across NYS.

Y'know....come to think of it.....don't ALL of us have a vested interest in Recruitment and Retention? Someone very wise once gave me a great quote. I kept it over my desk and still do:
"The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The leader adjusts the sails."

Why leave the recruitment process just to the white hats? If you can get EVERYONE in your department actively thinking about where that next viable recruit is coming from....you've got yourself a recruitment machine.

We had a blood drive at my department this past weekend. After I gave my requisite bag of O+, I was in charge of running the canteen (I was the only one they could trust with the cookies...) and recruited a possible new member while chatting over juice and the crossword puzzle. Will he show up at the next meeting? Dunno. But I was smart enough to get his email, and you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be in touch over the next week and I'll remind him again as that date approaches.

What's working for everyone else?

Mike -

Thanks for starting this group. I stumbled upon while attempting to start a group with the same name. LOL

Hopefully we can get some successful conversations going.

Stay safe. Train often.
