I forgot to mention that the Country Fire Authority (our statewide FF authority) had its first official presence at the Melbourne Pride march in February.  I was there and marched with around 60 FFs and supporters from around the state of Victoria..  We now have our own group within CFA called "CFA Pride". :)


Locally, my participation in Pride was mentioed on my brigade's Facebook page at the time. :)

There were a few fires on the weekend, though the most serious one was in another state.  Was pretty quiet around here.

Has been a bit quiet here, but I would like to share a bit of good news from this part of the world.  While I've done Pride many times, this will be my first as a firefighter. :)

It's gone quiet again, anyone awake? :)

Just some updates.  I did get that 10 year service award back in October, and Mark (my partner) was there with me at the dinner.  The fire season has been bad in some parts of the state (actually much of the country!), but we've been lucky so far, with the run of the mill minor local incidents for the most part.  Have been on standby several times for strike teams to travel further, but nothing has eventuated that required those resources.

Competition season is in full swing.  Got our last "local" competition before the State Championships in 3 weeks time.  Have had a number of wins over the last several weeks.  A big improvement from last year.  Looking forward to the state.  And over Easter, we're off to Perth to compete in the Western Australian championships.  This is something that only happens once every now and then.  Might be my last (as well as first!) opportunity to compete over there.  Looking forwars to that experience.
