Jerry,

If you find something that will make you play better, please let my instructor know! He'll pay lots of money to get me to play better!! LOL

Had a great talk with Russ and Redscot about the k-valves, they're on order. Don't think they'll make me play any better, but will help with other aspects. Dave thanks for your advise, I apprciate it. Everyone have a great day.

Thanks Dave,

I appreciate the response. I think I'm going to order a set and install them. I now have a synthetic bag and all I've read so far seems to point to using the valves. As I said in an earlier post, I took a forty year break in playing and believe me, I feel like a newbe at it. I remember some stuff and have forgotten a lot.

Thanks again

Hey Jerry!

I'm using drone valves, but then, as I'm a beginning piper, I don't really use anything else. I played for a week or two without them, but I could see the difference with strike in and cut off. Much more precise with them.

Got a dumb question for anyone out there. I'm looking at purchacing a set of drone valves. Is there any of you using them and if so are they worth the investment of money and time to install them. I don't recall us ever using them years ago, but then again my memory is a wee bit shorth. I just don't like the way my drones start up on cut off (they don't) I'm looking at the K-valves. Thanks for any thoughts on the subject.

well, Brian start with Litchfield hills Its possible That the band has disapeared or is in a rebirth stage too. Other options (Celtic Cross In danbury, obviously thats a hike.. and the 3rd & 4th Options are getting you hooked up with some of the Ct firefighters, the current Pipe major is working in West Hartford and his current #2 works in Hamden but his roots are Litchfield , The Drum Instructor lives In Naugy and has taught Ct FF & Waterbury Cops since the begining he also plays pipes too so he knows both sides of the fence, I think I shot you a P/M so that if you have issue then we can get something going for You,,.. I've been living down the shoreline for ten years so I suppose I may be out of touch with say Litchfield.. a LOt Can happen lol

Brian, being In Torrington Makes it a Tad more difficult, but certainly Litchfield Hills Pipe Band is easily accessable to you.. Music is funny and one of the things about PIPE & DRUMs Band s is that one side will always slight the other.. In Fun Of course as to the musical abilities of the other, Being A Piper, I would say to you That Its ok Brian even the most experianced drummers know nothing about music... =8^D when I began the pipes.. there were about 7 or 8 bands in the whole state None of them were at all related to the public safety venue, I was one of the founders of the 1st, and Had a bite of influence on several of the other fire ones...

Welcome aboard Brian,

I'll echo Dave's comment. You won't learn to play any younger. If you like go for it. Enjoy

Welcome Brian!

There is no better time than the present to start drumming or piping! Find yourself an instructor and go to it! I wish I had started years ago, instead of waiting this long!

Cheers!
