Marijuana Reform has gained much momentum over the past few months. It's speculation that this is due to the current turmoil our economy is in.

What's your stance on marijuana reform? Also please notate any experiences (non-incriminating), and so on if you will.

I would say if it's gonna get legalized for whatever purposes, be it medical or recreational, it shouldn't be allowed on the job as it does tend to "cloud" prospective for some people. I personally do not use it, but I do know people who do. For some it is just a relaxant, for some it makes them goofy and I just can't imagine how they would be able to function in work place under the influence of it. I don't care either way it goes, its a persons personal choice to use it or not to use it just as it is with smoking a cigarette or drinking a beer.
LOL!!!!!
I have to agree in thinking that marijuana is no more harmful then smoking tabacco or drinking alcohol. The point was made that THC stays in your body longer then either of the other two, that is true however; once THC is in the human body, it simply collects on fatty tissue, not hurting any vital organs. Before I go any farther, let me clearly state that I AM NOT a pot smoker, never have been, never will be. I had a gf that did it for awhile and I hated how she acted when she smoked it.

Anyway... my only concern is that if we legalize marijuana because we have found some of its "good" points (being able to provide medical "relief") then what are we going to legalize next? It just seems to me that this is not only a "gateway drug" on a personal level but on a national level as well. What happens if we find out that crack cocaine or heroin have medical advantages? are we going to legalize them also?

So here goes... do I think pot is bad for you? No. As long as its used in moderation (like alcohol). Do I think it should be legalized? No, only because I think it will lead to truly dangerous things being legalized after.
Right. Just like you shouldn't be on benedryl or nyquil on the job. Anything that slows your reflexes or distorts perception you shouldn't be taking while on the job. My ambulance in long island dying college had an 8 hour rule. It worked pretty well. Stop drinking or whatever 8 hours before you will be on shift so you have a clear head.
Believe me, I'm not saying alcohol is good by any means!!! I spent the first ten years of my life hiding everynight from my abusive alcoholic father.

What I am saying is that a line has to be drawn somewhere. Again, do I think pot is bad for you? No, as long as its done in moderation, just like alcohol. So.. should alcohol be illegal? yeah, maybe it should. It will never be illegal again but yeah maybe it should.

I'm just saying that I think if we start to legalize certain things because they have some good points, it may end up in us legalizing all kinds of really bad things just because they have a few good points.
Pot is just as bad as alcohol. Actually I think alcohol is worse. In my book the same rules apply for both. Not while your on duty, and use your head if your a volunteer and don't respond if you just smoked or drank.
Right, and prohibition of alcohol only served to make the likes of Al Capone rich. Just like illegal dope is doing with the drug gangs. I say legalize it and tax the hell out of it. There was a time, many years ago, when pot was legal. In fact, the military used the hemp fibers of the pot plant for rope. The beer and wine makers lobbied Congress to outlaw pot as a euphoriant (maybe they didn't want the competition). As far as going to a fire with someone who has been smoking it, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that person. The same goes for anyone who has been drinking.
It is the American way.
