what dose everyone think you should do first if you get a report of lines down

Sit back and relax its going to be a long day until the power co comes and eta 2 hrs but if its a mva and wires down on car we have poles to remove wires from the area but they are still hot

Get the utility company enroute. Go to the scene, secure it and stand back.

Secure the scene is top priority. We call radio room have them contact the utility company. If the run invovles a vehicle accident we tell them to make it Priority 1. The ulility will respond no more than 30 minutes, experience has been they usually arrive within 10 minutes if we call a Priority 1.

treat them as if they are energized and leave them alone. Keep everyone away from them and notify the electric company. Until they get to the location and tell you its ok dont mess with them. ALWAYS!

Right on damnthing. The power company always has at least an hour ETA! Get comfortable.

Yup, sounds like everyone has this covered already. As soon as you get the tone, respond obviously lol, but make getting the power company enroute your first priority. Block the road with your apparatus and wait.

and on that note we had a case of it today reported truck vers car head on lines down car on fire so we get there and its a truck whos trailer brakes had locked and the trailer had clipped a power pole and brought it down No car anywhere but lines down and nice and sparky thank goodness its wet at the moment or we would of had a nice grass fire going on
so anyway there we are sitting around for a hour and a half waiting for them to cut the power imagine if the driver was trapped in the cab and injured what a stuff up it would of being
