Was channel surfing and ran across a segment on Good Morning America talking about cooking safety. Of course it showed the grease fire and they showed how to cover the pot with a lid and to use baking soda yadda yadda. There was an officer from DC fire department in the background. The newcaster put on the lid on and has she was stepped away I noticed the Electric stove was still on or at least still hot. As she's talking the pot burst into flames. The FF is in the background with this LITTLE box of baking soda trying to put this conflagiration out.

As many of us know you finish what you start with, big fire big hose, call for help before you need it...all the cliches...well I thought it was funny as heck to watch this guy helplessly trying to put the out fire as the newscaster is looking over her shoulder trying to appear cool as the fire grows. And the FF looking at the camera and the fire at the same time. I felt so bad for the FF but it was really funny as heck. I was waiting for a 2nd alarm at any time but they cut to a commercial.

Got my Thanksgiving laugh.

That's too funny. I wish I'd seen it! Happy Thanksgiving Craig.
And did you notice the color of his helmet, is that the CHAOS theory in action?
All in all it was a pretty good report ..........until she failed to remove the pan from the heat. Hope that you had a great Thanksgiving Craig, Thanks for the morning chuckle
okay, that was just AWESOME! Feel kinda bad for the Captain, but its still pretty funny
we do the kitchen fire demonstrator too and i have seen my old chief make an absolute cluster F**k of it and set his turnouts on fire with spilled oil in front of a local ladies group that had a lot of very nice looking young ladies he wanted to impress .....
For Christ's sake he's putting the baking soda on top of the lid! Remove the lid and apply the baking soda.
OOOooops, I bet people got a better sense of what can happen if you don't act right away and remove the pot/pan from the heat source, LOL :)
I saw that.At least it was a good demonstration as to how fast things can go to hell.It was pretty humorous.
Ok... so... that was really good... but...
instead of telling everyone to have a box of emergency baking soda on the wall...
how about a working/charged/maintained ABC or BC fire extinguisher in the kitchen?
Woulda been good to see that finish off the news item....

I could almost feel the Capt's pain at the end there.
I love that video... lol
The Captain, never once, lost his composure, he just wasn't sure how to put that fire out. Not to memtion, he'll never live it down...
