As much as I like the irons, or my FDNY roof hook, or my pick head axe, always grabbing a tool because it is your favorite versus grabbing the right tool for the job will eventually have bad results.
Having said that, I bought a FUBAR tool and it is sweet for overhaul. I am experimenting with it for different uses. Yet it isn't right for everything.

Definitely the Fire Hooks Unlimted Firemaxx tool. It has so many different uses it's right for nearly any job.

Like others have said ... Common sense, Your brain and etc. ... But I do like the TNT tool that has come on scene within the past years. I have found many uses for it.

halligan or a combi tool for wildland. combi tool is great for just about everything including leaning on when no one is looking!

My favorite tool would have to be either the pick-head axe or the NY hook. Both are extremely versatile and applicable to many situations that may arise.
Common sense is something I keep on me regardless of whether or not I'm on a fire scene.
