True, how true. It’s a long way from wet stuff on the red stuff. Do the paid guy’s get more pay, not much, but has opened up a whole slew of new positions. For the vols it’s starting to become overwhelming. I joined my dept to fight fires, why I’m not really sure, but do enjoy it, and have come to appreciate it over the years for the single mind set you have performing your task, nothing else matters but what you are doing at that moment in time. That is still the same today, except you got to know a hell of a lot more stuff. Hose, pumps, water…it’s still all there, but now I got to be; first responder/EMT/Paramedic, roadway specialist, hazmat tec, trench rescue, rope rescue…ect…ect, and the list grows every year. No you don’t have to do it all, but if you don’t, you’ll be left behind. Somewhere and I'm not sure where, we stopped being the Fire Department and became the Fire Service.
Maybe we should start towing, since we're alreadt there............... LOL:)
All I can think of is Bomb Disposal. Thankfully most Sheriff's Dept's out here have their own "bomb squads". I don't think I'd enjoy screwing around with WMD's!
I think playing with bomb's would be cool! I'm up for that:)
LOL I am suprised we don't do that either since most times we wait for the tow vehicles anyway to Funny
Amen, Cap!
Your so right! :)
