In contrast, we don't carry personal escape ropes except for a few firefighters that carry their own. We do carry a team search rope for large occupancies - big boxes, strip malls, office buildings, etc.

The only time we take the water can with us is when we arrive before the Eng Co or if we are searching a large area where we are separated from the Eng Co.

Our truckies routinely search the floor above the fire on our multiple dwelling occupancies, and they generally take the can.

I've only used it in training as well, but it works like a charm.
