The volunteer department I am on averages about 100-125 calls a year, mostly mva's. We have two to three structure fires a year, with the occasional water rescue and assist the medical squad too. We do get some odd ones too, like a structural collapse and animal rescue rarely.
As for the career deparmtent, I really can't say, I have only worked there for about a year, and have been laid off since February, but what I have been told, we average about 5000 calls a year, about 3500 squad runs (medical and truama) and 1500 "fire" runs, of which about 30-40 are working fires. We also do water rescue, confined space, haz-mat, structural collapse, high angle, and other specialized rescues. The fire runs are lumped together, I think its anytime an engine or truck leaves the station, don't want it to look like we have a bunch of false alarms lol. Hope that is what you were looking for.
My dept averages about 4000 calls a year that's with 3stations. We average about 100-200 house fires a year. Lots of gsw, assaults, rapes, suicide, you name it we have it .
We ran about 165,000 runs last year. I think we are on pace for almost 180,000 this year. I have no idea how many working fires we get. We run 33 engines, 16 trucks, 3 rescue squads, hazmat unit, 3 fire boats and a bunch of other specialized units.
What state are you in
DC
Ya I have been dreaming of getting hired at a dept like that . You suck j/k
Where do you work?
In Prichard Alabama .
Structure fires
Non-structure fires (cars, bins etc.)
Monitored alarm calls
Wildfire
MVA's
Hazmat
Children locked in cars - an offence here to leave a young child in a car
Ambulance support for suicides or when they want someone else to do the lifting
Assist with storm damage (thankfully the main part of that job belongs to another emergency service here).

Average 290 per year for my Station. Over 1200 Stations in my FRS.

When talking to people from other stations in my FRS I give my opinion that the more calls a station has, the higher the percentage that are false alarms. I've heard too many people saying how" good" they are because they are "busier". We have Vol Stations that may do about 10 calls a year, they're still doing their job.
Ouch! capcityff might be a little sensitive to the whole lack of statehood for D.C., man.
Well I work for a volunteer department..

Located on a stretch of barrier island just to the east of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Population is about 6500 full time residents that swell to about 11000 in the winter months
we have a cap of 70 members with 35 or so living within 3 miles of the station the other approx 35 do 48 hours of station watch a month and live outside the on call range.

Our run area is primarily highrise condos on the beach with a good amount of little motels and small multifamily apartments. and about 400 or so single family homes. everything here is made of concrete.

We run about 1200 calls a year with about 900 being EMS assist (we have the engine dispatched to every medical call to assist) we run a good amount of automatic alarms, have about 3 or so real structure fires a year. minor MVA's (top speed is 35mph in town) we also do the ocean rescue because the town doesn't want to pay for lifeguards we have 2 jetskis and 2 all terrain vehicles for this purpose.

Our first out engine has a response time of just above 4 minutes.we have 4 apparatus total 2 engines, a 50' telesquirt and a 102' tower ladder.

Speaking of odd calls - Sea turtle rescue from a sewer drain, rat in a toilet (yah I know), and microwave wont stop running (the better go catch it wasn't as funny at the time)
Rural volunteer department, population 603.

10-20 calls a year

1/2 medical
1 or 2 working fires
2-3 MA calls, standbys and working fires
occasional flue fire
occasional MVA
