oh, I know exactly what you mean! But it's that way not only in the fire service, but in life in general. Yeah, it sucks, but that's when you step up and get the work done. That kind of thing doesn't go unnoticed in most companies.

You are correct there. When event is planned and you are asking for help or assistance in any way. It is a god thing to remember the rule of 1/3's

1/3 of the people will do everything that is ask and more
1/3 of the people will do a portion of what is ask of them and no more
1/3 of the people will say that they will do something and then don't do squat! (These are your moaners and groaners)

I agree with Becky this goes on everywhere not just in the fire service.

I love how the ones that never show up for fundraisers always want a say in how that money is spent. As far as fire school goes it is more of a privledge to go on my department and the ones who dont do anything dont get to go.

Yes, they are the ones that just slide along on a Department and give little to no effort. This does not however go un-noticed. They will never ever go anywhere on my Department. You make the effort and you'll be rewarded.
