This weekends incident at Times Square emphasizes the need for dilegence on all levels of response. Training and eqipment are key and we must all strive to be prepared. What I wonder is are there departments out there having trouble preparing for this new task.
While WMD and explosives classes are taught and have been taken by our members/employees, should someone want to leave an IED out here in "Hooterville", it would bee a couple of weeks before the local rag would have a back page story.
Seriously though, my department would have a very limited role in perimeter isolation. Suspicious vehicles left in the roadway quickly catch LE attention.
