If anyone has ever watch Emergency, one episode involved Roy deciding to move up in rank. The only thing was that he had to leave the paramedics and becoming a engineer and drive an engine. This was back in the 70s. I was wondering if there had been a change in this situation. Would a paramedic move up to Sgt. or a   Lt. and stay a paramedic and still move up to higher ranks?
