After speaking to a few close friends and family they said the best way to start down a new road and stay on it is to tell people about it.  And I figured since I havent been able to stay on this road previous its something new to try.

My name is Josh Murdock I am 24 years old.  I have been overweight most of my life.  Two years ago I finally realized that my weight was getting in the way of me for 1 being as healthy as I could be and two getting in the way of the firefighter I know I can be and the firefighter I want to be.  I left the fire service in December of 2008 and havent yet returned.  I now weight 414 lbs and am shooting for a goal of 225 at the end of my journey.  This is step one in my journey.

I started my fire service career in 2000 as a fire explorer in Northborough, MA.  I then became a call firefighter in Sherborn, MA and relocated to Milford, MA where I became a substitute in Hopedale, MA.  When I graduated college I moved down to VA to be with my dad and become a member of the Kentland Vol Fire Dept Company 33 in PG County MD.  They were graceous enough to let me become a member but due to my weight I was unable to pass both the firefighter 1 and the stress test.

In January 20010 I moved back home due to a financial situation.  Since being home this past 10 months I have lost and gained weight back and forth.  My most recent heart break was gaining 20lbs since July sending me to my 414 lb weight.

The fire service has been my life from when I was a little kid like many of the people on here.  Two years ago I lost it and havent gotten it back yet.  But I am hoping with this new journey in time I will be able to come back to it and become the firefighter I know i can be and that I know I want to be.

I dont know how many people will read or comment on this thread but I will keep it updated as my journey progresses.

Stay Safe!

I wish you the very very best.
Good luck, man. I like your positive outlook.
hey bro, i know you can do it. An i know it's a hard thing to battle. You'll make it, you have faith in you heart, i can't give you any idea's on how to help, because everyone is different and to loose weight differs from person to person. Just know you have a brother in N.C. who hopes to hear that your back on the department, and you have reached your goal. remember it's reachable if you reach hard enough. take care bro.
Thank you for the encouragement and believing in me everyone.

I will keep the post updated as my journey makes progress
I know its not much of an update but week 1 of the journey complete and no fast food, fried food or candy. Lost 2 lbs so far only 187 more to go. Working slowly and smart this time.
