Hey guys. Would any of you happen to know if there are any grants out there to get a Jaws of Life unit. My little department is trying to have fund raises and stuff to get one. Thanks.
Hi robert.
Really not trying to be an ass here, but have you tried "google"? You can pretty much find anything you need to know there. Here's a little help. Maybe you will find something in here:
I'm from Ontario, so I don't know if things work the same in your area, but have you tried any local industries to see if they would donate? We purchased a used set of Amkus in 2000 from usedrescuetools.com and were successful in getting donations from Greyhound, Trimac (a trucking company), TransCanada Pipelines, and local logging company. In total, we brought in $5000, a little less than half the cost of the used set. I sent out about 30 letters, mostly to trucking companies, explaining the project and how it would benefit them . . . all of them used the 60 mile stretch of highway we cover. Just an idea.
Robert, Derek is right. A search on the internet for fire, rescue, emergency services, 1st responders grants will keep you busy for some time. There is much out there starting with the Federal Governments "Fire Act" grant. looking for help in your local and regional area may help also. Be creative. Many grants are there you just have to be creative in how you write the grant.
