I.D. Cards for Department
Does anyone have ID Cards for their department? If so, and you went though an online company to create and print these, I'm currently trying to research one to go with, but I'm having a difficult time with it. If anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appriciate it. Currently my department has no means of proof of identity that we are, in fact with the fire department.

Our county does all ID cards which have medical info and other info most info are done with bar codes.
Everyone has to have a county ID number for all writen reports.
Also accountabilty tags are done the same way but also show the level of training by info on the tag.
The photo and printing equipment is kept at the county fire services building so everyone has to go there to have the cards and tags done.

Try your local school board .. Normally they do id cards for the school system ..

These are what we use. We take the pics and print the tags out ourselves and then laminate them. It cost about $3.00 a tag.

we use a county system here that includes all county employees, all police fire and ems personel in the county each ff gets 3 cards in less you are in a 2nd company or on a squad then you get 4. 1 of witch most stay on your person at all times the others are your accountablity tags

Michael, Our ID Cards are done by our Police Department through the DMV. Most members have their ID card and Badge in a leather folder. They are updated every five years by the Police Department.

We have ID Cards that are done up by our EMA Office. Ours are updated every year

Thannk you all so much! I'm going to contact my local police, EMA and DMV to see what they can do for us.
As ashfire stated, We'd like to keep most information on the card, with the certain medical information on the barcode. I'm going to create a database aswell of all the members, where as through the barcode I can keep record on file of all their demerits, promotions, etc. only accessible with a scan or password.

Dickson City uses a plastic card with Dickson City Fire Department engraved on it and have a label with the members name on it.
As you may know, Lackawanna County tried using the county system, but that fell through.

We have software and a special printer for the cards. We produce the Police, fire and some other town employees. We don't have the equipment that will encode the strip on the back. Recently, Massachusetts went to producing a unified Police ID card that take several weeks to come back but has all the security measure a license does. I still produce the auxiliary Police and the fire dept cards. After you design the template of what you want on each agencies card, then producing it is 5 minutes from entry to finish. Honestly, I don't think we can afford a full printer and all, unless of course their not as expensive as I believe they are. I've seen many many I.D. Card printers and software out there.
@Marty Hrinko, Yeah I've Seen DCFD's cards. and have spoke to CJ and Wes about them before. I don't remember Lackawanna County trying the county system as I'm only in the service about 5 years here. I can see why that would fail so fast though, this area can't tie their damn shoes anymore.

Hi Mike our County Office of Emergency Management in Genesee County New York does ID cards for all fire department personnel. there are three pieces to our ID package, first there is a (green in color) tag for all personnel as an on sceen tag, that is left on the truck, the second one is for interior personnel only (red in color) and is given to the interior accountability officer before entering the (structure, trench, hot zone, etc), these are clipped to the outside of your turnout gear, the third part is an ID card for your wallet all three have your picture, name, rank, badge # on the outside, and medical information inside that can be accessed by cutting these open. If you call the Genesee County Office of Emergency Management at (585)344-0078. They could probably give you information on what equipment they use, and how to make this type of ID package.
