Ours is now 24-30 weeks. 8 hours/day, 5 days/week. That's just to become a probie. Then after a total of 18 months(10-12 on the street) that include a ton of tests you can eventually become a normal firefighter.
Chief, if NYS law states 18 then why does the OFPC Training Approval Form state that one must be at least 16 in order to participate in live burn exercises?
In Croatia, you must be 18 or older.
For a volunteer, you must be healthy, and have a finished training for a volunteer.
Younger than 18 can only partecipate in competitions. Partecipation in interventions is prohibited by laws.
In reality the situation is different.

For a professional firefighter you must pass phisical and mental tests, finish firefighter school, also you must be with no criminal record.

PS Sorry for my english !
