In this section we are going to cuss and discuss Ground Ladder Operation on and off the fire scene and the proper techniques used and the safety that must be done, when working on or around ground ladders. For you lifers out there like myself feel free to give some insight and share your knowledge and lead the way and mold some of these young minds in here...
Training is knowledge!!!! And knowledge keeps us safe!!!!

The heat indicator will change color if the ladder is placed too close to the exhaust of the truck. As we found out. . .oops! If staging a ladder prior to putting in service do so away from apparatus.
Also notice, the indicators have an expiration date. Many don't realize this especially on smaller departments which may not have a ladder testing program.
Your right Oldman...If for any reason the decal is removed on accident and another needs to be replaced in its place call your local dealer or sales rep they should be able to help you on this, or better yet when you have them tested and they pass they should be replaced at that time...Good Job Brother...

Strategic and Tactical considerations on the Fireground by Jim Smith. Brady publishing. I took Command and Control of Incident Operations at the National Fire Academy and Jim was my instructor. When I got home I bought his book. Great read. Not alot on ladders....but its in there
