fire runs
ive got a queston an i need some opions on it does any one think its wrong to make fire runs on a bike cause almost evry one ive met while im responding to the fire house thinks im stupid for doing it

As long as you can get there safe & sound is all that matters. I've been out riding my bicylce and got a call and responded to the station.

The general consensus is that with the adrenaline flowing that one might take to much of a risk and not ride safely to the station, Our dept. does not allow any one to respond to the station for a call.

When I first joined we used to run to the firehouse. Man, the siren would go off and people would come out of the woodwork. And I would make the first engine.

As long as you get there safe is all that matters. I responded to the station on my 4 wheeler one day.

Our dept. does not allow any one to respond to the station for a call
The apparatus drive themselves to the scene or do you have folks bring the trucks home with them? Not sure how the trucks get to the scene if noone is allowed to respond to the firehouse

We have members respond on foot, bicycle, car,motorcycle, and had grandma drive them. As long as they respond in a safe manner no one cares. With manpower low we are just happy they show up.

Why would they care..1 are you responding to a call.2. do you pull your weight at a fire 3. are they going to buy you something else to come to the hall in.. 4. Is there a camara around and the fire house is up for a prize and you showing up on a bike goiing to cause them to lose the big prize...Yea stupid is like what stupid says.... Don't worry your ok.. If it make them feel better I will buy you a blue light and a siren for your bike....... Be safe your fine....

I ride my bike to the station all of the time.
It's good exercise.
Are you getting there in time to catch the truck?
If so, then that's all that matters.
