I remember years ago when my young brother had joined our local fire dept. youth drum corps of the fire dept. majorettes where some of our volunteer members later would come from. I remember many of our surrounding depts. had majorette and drum corps some even had a full marching bands with majorettes. Over the years many of the groups started disappearing and then none. If we go to our state fire convention there still some depts. that still have youth groups, but there are also a city municipal band and Scottish pipe and drum bands from different fire depts. in the state.
Over the years I have know some member of fire depts. that formed rock bands and some that formed soul bands, country or rock a billy bands or Christian rock bands. Some of them formed connections with local fire companies when they need entertainment for a function for the dept.
Now I have seen some depts. in other states have jazz bands or even a full matching band made up of fire dept. members.
Recently I just found on YouTube a old Disney group Firehouse Five + Two which did movies, cartoons and music videos back in those days along with old LP records of their music.
Back in the 70s I remember some old records by the Memphis Firemen Band and another group the Country EMS Express.
I guess one thing would be how many depts. have their own band to draw interest to any kind for public event instead of DJs or piped music?
How many emergency service members have music talent, maybe back in their youth or school days, and would look for others to form a music group?
