Fieldus Ignitus ( The Field Mouse w/ Matches )
Well it's that time of year when we are on the hunt for Fieldus Ignitus, the field mouse with matches, he is a hard animal to trap,and can show up in any field or woodland. He carries a supply of matches with him, and uses them at random to bring the funny men in the red trucks,and the big tractors w/ plows on them, running. Scientist have attempted to study this creature, but due to his elusive nature and seemingly unlimited range, they have no subjects for study. No one knows why he lights fires, some say it is to keep warm on those windy spring days, others say it's for the simple joy of watching the funny men, run around and try to stop his handy work, but whatever the reason, always be on the look out for him. He is responsible for the fires that seemingly have no cause and the witnesses say " it just started, I don't know why." So when you have unexplained brush fires, and the " witness" has no explination for the fire, remember to look for signs of Fieldus Ignitus. He has a brother Structure Ignitus, but that will be discussed at a later date.

I just had the privalge of seeing both there handy work. Grass fire that spread to a mobile home and a barn. Sure wish someone could catch him. Maybe we should get rid of the dalmations and start bringing cats to the fires. Maybe they could catch the pesky duo and end all of our sufferings. LMFAO

Sorry you had to see the work of both brothers. I don't think a cat would help as they are extremely fast and breed faster than rabbits.: )

They must be avoiding my area. Usually by now we have been mutual aided to around 20 field fires. So far we are sitting at zero and my heart is'nt exactly broken over it either!

This may be a little off topic; I do a lot of brush clearing with a dozer, pile up and burn, well….and this has happened more than once….light brush and have small critters, on fire, come running out, for some reason they like to run towards structures, usually barns. Knock on wood…I’ve never had one burn…..completely.

An old chief ( I think he was 18) of mine had the idea of getting a cat for the fire house in order to find Fieldus Ignitus...we'll after one grass fire, the cat exited the rig (backwards his paws making 3 points of contact) and found him but things didn't exactly go as planned here's a pic...
